Advisory Group in Ghana elects chairs and adopts new Terms of Reference

The Alliance for Integrity has held the eighth meeting of the Advisory Group in Ghana and elected a new Chairperson and Vice Chairperson to steer the affairs of the group for the next year. Susanne Friedrich, Director of the Alliance for Integrity, who took part in the meeting, expressed her gratitude to the Advisory Group members for their dedication and support since it was constituted in April 2016. She called for their continued involvement as the Alliance for Integrity sought to consolidate the gains made over the past years to attain higher feats. Ms. Friedrich mentioned that the Alliance for Integrity’s cooperation with the private sector; development of practice-oriented solutions and the integration of those into policy; and knowledge sharing in multi-stakeholder partnerships had proven very effective in the past years would be carried forward into the as attention would also be focused on the network’s sustainability. She reiterated the point that the Alliance for Integrity belonged to all actors in the network and that the Alliance for Integrity’s Secretariat and offices were only facilitators of the various activities.

The Advisory Group members made various input regarding how the Alliance for Integrity should approach topics such as integrity in female-owned businesses, compliance and digitalisation and possible compliance training in State-Owned Enterprises and the healthcare sector. Outgoing Advisory Group Vice Chairperson, Edmund Foley of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Law Faculty commended his colleagues as well as the Alliance for Integrity’s offices for the growth and development of the Network. He also welcomed representatives of Ecobank Ghana, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited and the National Board for Small Scale Industries, the three new members of the Advisory Group in Ghana.

The Advisory Group approved its new Terms of Reference and elected Merck represented by Ronke Ampiah, and the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry represented by Mark Badu Aboagye, as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson respectively. They replace the Public Procurement Authority represented by Rhoda E. Appiah, and GIMPA represented by Edmund Foley, who assumed office in February 2017.
