With the ongoing technological developments across the globe,
digital tools and solutions are expanding their role in the field of
preventing corruption and promoting integrity.
Following
the global trend, the legal framework in India has also undergone
significant changes. The latest amendment to the Prevention of
Corruption Act in 2018 makes it an offence for the commercial
organisations to be involved in corrupt practices for gaining undue
advantage to their business. The law promotes establishing adequate
procedures in compliance of the guidelines to be issued, which also acts
as a defence in situations where any of their employees is involved in
corrupt activities. The clarifications on the guidelines are still
underway.
In order to support companies putting the latest amendment into
practice, the Alliance for Integrity is launching TheIntegrityApp in
India. TheIntegrityApp is a digital application developed by the
Alliance for Integrity and leading compliance experts from around the
globe. It is a self-assessment tool especially designed for smaller and
medium-sized enterprises to evaluate their compliance measures. The app
has inbuilt capacity-building resources to support the user in improving
the company’s compliance management system.
To explore
further the potential of digitalisation for the field of
anti-corruption, the Alliance for Integrity will organise a High-level
Panel on the “Role of Digitalisation in the Implementation of the New
Amendment to the Corruption Law in India.”
The conference will be held as part of the “Vigilance Awareness Week” observed by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
