INTEGRITY WEEK: Conference on “Making compliance attractive for businesses in developing countries” and publication launch

The  half-day conference will bring together various stakeholders including top executives of large companies, representatives from business chambers, small and medium-sized enterprises, civil society and the public sector in Ghana for a panel discussion on how to make compliance attractive in developing countries. The event will also provide a platform for the launch of the Alliance for Integrity’s newest publication “Ensuring Compliance – A Practical Handbook for Businesses in Ghana”. The conference is being organised as part of events marking the Integrity Week of the Alliance for Integrity in Ghana – a week dedicated to various awareness-raising and capacity-building activities on the topic of corruption-prevention in business.

Despite the many advantages of compliance, business organisations, particularly those in developing countries, have yet to fully embrace the topic. Why should businesses be concerned about compliance? What makes compliance a difficult issue for businesses in developing countries? How can compliance be made attractive for the private sector in developing countries? What are the roles of civil society and the public sector in ensuring compliance amongst businesses in developing countries?
