The first day was spent inducting compliance professionals from twelve large companies into the Alliance for Integrity's global trainer pool and equipping these professionals with a comprehensive training methodology to pass on learnings for establishing and implementing compliance management systems within SMEs. The intensive training prepared them to deliver tailored business integrity trainings for SMEs. Using practical examples and case studies, the programme took participants through the "grey areas" of corruption and the problems that SMEs face daily. They also received advice on how to set up communication strategies to persuade smaller companies to adopt a culture of integrity both from an ethical standpoint and as a selling point for doing business.

The newly trained professionals conducted a training for SMEs on the second day, to put the training methodology into practice. Risk assessment was an important component of day 2 as well, where we the entrepreneurs worked on case studies and were asked to imagine themselves in the situations and analyse the situations to help SMEs prioritize and adjust compliance programmes. The entrepreneurs openly discussed actual difficulties and challenges faced by them in their everyday business and lessons learned. Their feedback on the course was very positive: "This helped me understand the grey areas better" and "It gave me practical options, not just theories".

To foster an ecology of integrity in private sector the professionals were equipped to pass on compliance knowledge to smaller companies, which reflects the Alliance for Integrity’s commitment to combat corruption by means of collective action, peer to peer learning, and multi-stakeholder cooperation. Alliance for Integrity will continue to provide practical advice on implementing anti-corruption compliance procedures to organizations of all sizes and industries through its learning solutions - to establish an integrity culture as the new worldwide standard for doing business.
