Accra, Ghana
The Alliance of Integrity has organised its first Awareness Creation Working Group meeting for the year. Participants used the opportunity to outline a memorandum on the Right to Information (RTI) Bill, 2018 for submission to Ghana’s Parliament per an open request by the legislative body’s Committee for Legal, Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs.
Participants also discussed possible input to the Witness Protection Bill, 2017 and discussed the possibility of adapting the publication “Preventing Corruption in the Supply Chain – How Companies Can Address Challenges” developed by an expert group on “Corruption Prevention in the Supply Chain” organised by the Partnership for Sustainable Textiles, the Alliance for Integrity and the Global Compact Network Germany in Germany in 2017.
The Working Group meeting was attended by a new member organisation, Parliamentary News Africa, a civil society parliamentary monitoring organisation that uses mass media as a tool to engage with and influence legislative assemblies across the continent of Africa.
The Awareness Creation Working Group of the Alliance for Integrity in Ghana has been instrumental in the development of various corruption preventing tools, the most recent being the Podcast/Vodcast on Understanding Corruption and Corruption Prevention.
