Women entrepreneurs are powerful drivers for unwavering business integrity

On International Women's Day, we as Alliance for Integrity, reaffirm our commitment to breaking down barriers and promoting equal opportunities for all women. We recognize that by integrating a gender perspective into integrity programmes, we are strengthening institutions and businesses and building a world where every woman can thrive and contribute fully to society.
Since 2018, the Alliance for Integrity has been working to link gender and anticorruption systematically. Together with local partners around the globe, we have developed different products to support women in business to prevent and fight corruption. Also, we have been working to promote a gender-sensitive anticorruption effort around the globe, including the gender perspective in anticorruption strategies, compliance systems and collective actions.
Today, we can better understand that integrity and gender equality are mutually reinforcing. Men and women are affected differently by corruption, and corruption tends to reinforce existing gender disparities. Last year, we decided to go one step forward and analyze with two publications in Brazil and Argentina the role not only of gender equality but of diversity in compliance programmes.
We also started working with women in specific sectors or regions, fostering collective action between them. Two great examples are the Integrity Journey for women in the textile sector in India and a working group for women entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
Fostering a culture of integrity requires sustained collective action. Recognizing gender as a fundamental element of collective actions and integrating gender equality perspectives is essential. On International Women's Day, we celebrate women's pivotal role in the Alliance for Integrity, highlighting their leadership, vision, and commitment to ethics and integrity.
Strengthening female leadership in SMEs is essential for sustainable growth in businesses. Each female entrepreneur creates economic opportunities for herself and ignites a flame of inspiration and progress in her society. We celebrate International Women's Day, recognizing the crucial role of female entrepreneurs in building prosperous and ethical communities.
