A new guidebook published by Alliance for Integrity equips business practitioners from Indonesia with the tools to navigate daily operations while setting higher standards for ethical business. It showcases how to address human rights issues and corruption risks throughout the supply chain. A launch event took place on November 27th in Jakarta.

In his opening speech, Thomas Graf, Deputy Head of Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to Indonesia, highlighted the potential for this initiative to foster extensive partnerships among stakeholders dedicated to uphold human rights and fight corruption within their respective enterprises. The centerpiece of the event was a panel discussion featuring experts such as Dadang Trisasongko from MERCOF Law and Governance, the guidebook’s author Anugraha Dezmercoledi, Bambang Poerwono from the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Sera Noviany from Asia Pulp and Paper Indonesia, and Rosana Fransisca from the Corruption Eradication Commission. Moderated by Satrio Anindito from Indonesia Global Compact Network, the panel discussion addressed a wide array of inquiries posed by the engaged participants.

The discourse prompted thought-provoking insights and question, including inquiries about the intersection of ethical business practices, the fight against corruption, human right concerns and their potential impact on forthcoming elections.

In a global economy characterized by unprecedented interconnectivity, enterprises are no longer only working locally but hand in hand with international partners. While providing and processing production resources, they face several risks like corruption and human rights abuses. Alliance for Integrity hopes for this launching event and the guidebook to equip business practitioners with the tools to navigate daily operations, spanning from upstream to downstream operations. The initiative seeks to reinforce the framework of ethical business practices across the nation.
