Bandung (Indonesia)
Just four months after the DUKU training in Jakarta in February, the Alliance for Integrity offered another DUKU session, this time in Bandung, in collaboration with KaBandung Creative Hub (KBCH), a laboratory for the business sector in creative industry. Over 30 participants with little prior knowledge on integrity from different entrepreneurial sectors – most of them owners of food and beverages businesses – joined this course, which took place on 27 June 2023.
The one-day training provided participants with information on the legal framework interconnected with corruption, especially the different types of corruption acts. The entrepreneurs also learned that the definition of corruption should not limit their awareness of possible legal sanctions they may face when faced with suspicious request by public officials. Another take-away was the fact that corruption prevention within the company will only be successful if it seen as a managerial responsibility.
After the introductory session, participants were exposed to information on how to communicate their anti-corruption programme to their external partners such as sister companies, affiliations, and joint ventures. A participant’s question about how to build a culture of ownership mentality among staff to prevent corruption was answered by saying that a company could develop a code of ethics for everyone to follow. The overall feedback to the DUKU training was very good. Many of the course participants requested to have a follow-up training session and to set up a peer-group exchange.
