Alliance for Integrity is repositioning itself for the future in Chile

In order to secure a strong presence in Chile in the long term, the network partners are creating new structures: AHK Chile, a long-standing strategic partner of the Alliance for Integrity, is preparing to take over the official representation of the Alliance for Integrity in Chile. In doing so, it is supported by the newly founded Advisory Group composed of business enterprises, the public sector and civil society organizations that are involved in the network. The trial kicked off on January 12 at the Deloitte Convention Center in Santiago de Chile, where the future Hub was presented to the public.

The guests at the kick-off event were welcomed by Susanne Friedrich, Director of the Alliance for Integrity, Cornelia Sonnenberg, General Manager of AHK Chile, Corinna Küsel, GIZ Country Director GIZ for Peru, Chile and Argentina, and Pedro Trevisan, Lead Partner at Deloitte Forensic. Catalina Riaño, Project Manager of AHK Chile, and Leandro Arreagada, Network Manager for the Cono Sur at the Alliance for Integrity, presented the National Hub's plans for 2023.

"Companies can develop best in a transparent environment with fair rules," emphasized Susanne Friedrich in her speech, referring to the excellent cooperation with the AHK Chile. AHK Chile has been cooperating with the Alliance for Integrity since 2016 and is the implementation partner for the on-site trainings. Since then, more than 100 companies have taken part in corruption prevention training, 30 compliance trainers have been trained and the network has been expanded to around 100 actors. "I am sure that the AHK will succeed in supporting Chilean companies in their efforts to achieve greater compliance and actively promoting the issues of anti-corruption and gender as well as human rights," said Friedrich.

From December 2023, AHK Chile is expected to act independently as a national hub for the Alliance for Integrity in the country and, in the function of the National Hub, will take over the coordination work of the Alliance for Integrity and steer the Chilean Integrity Network. In order to strengthen the integrity of companies in their supply chains, capacities are to be built up, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises, so that mutual learning and public-private dialogue are promoted. Among other things, the focus is on linking corruption prevention with the requirements for companies with regard to their due diligence obligations in compliance with human rights and environmental requirements.

On 11 April, the newly founded Advisory Group, the body that sets the priorities of the initiative's work and annual agenda in Chile, met for the first time at the AHK Chile. At the meeting, Mariano Gojmann, Lead Country Compliance Officer, South America Siemens, was elected Chairman. Its representatives are Sofia Ocaranza from CAP and Carolina Rudnick from Fundación Liberá.

In 2022, following a global call for proposal, the Alliance for Integrity nominated organizations worldwide among its partner organizations to take over the portfolio of the Alliance for Integrity from the end of 2023. After a successful accreditation process, they will represent the Alliance for Integrity in their countries and contribute to strengthening integrity in the economic system through the global network. Advisory groups are made up of representatives of business, civil society and the public sector in the countries in which the Alliance for Integrity is active. In addition to the global Steering Committee of the initiative, they are the most important body for the strategic, but also practical design of the promotion of integrity and compliance, responsible economic actors and fair competition for the benefit of all.
