Regional training programme successfully reaches one year of implementation

During the year 2015, the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Argentina, Brazil Colombia, Paraguay and Uruguay together with the local Networks of the United Nations Global Compact, implemented the compliance training programme De empresas para empresas which is part of the global multi-stakeholder initiative Alliance for Integrity, a global network which seeks to promote integrity among companies, their business partners and other relevant actors in the economic system. Initiated in Germany, the initiative is currently active in Brazil, Ghana, India as well as Germany.

Since the first training of De empresas para empresas for SMEs in September 2014, 65 trainers were trained and more than 200 SMEs have participated in the training programme. These workshops were carried out in the five South American countries mentioned above and gained press coverage in the specialized press, as well as in various mainstream media outlets.

The need to develop a training programme focusing on the prevention and detection of corruption has been reflected in the demand made by companies, which have wanted to take first steps, but were unable to do so because they lacked the necessary knowledge. As an added value, companies which participate in the programme also have access to the Support Desk – an online platform designed to support companies in the process of implementing what they learned during the training in an efficient and immediate manner. The platform also allows them to make use of all the relevant material and to directly ask questions to experts available to them.

We would like to thank all our local and international partners, the trainers and the companies which have been trained for making this programme possible and for working to improve transparency among businesses in the region. We also invite companies that have not yet been trained to participate in the upcoming training activities in 2016.
