Webinar: Protecting Data Privacy in the Private Sector in Times of Covid

Data Privacy in Times of Covid-19

We are currently facing one of the worst health crises in history. This is forcing businesses to convert their activities into digital formats under enormous pressure. Not only our professional life is affected by the ongoing pandemic, but also our whole daily life. Students started attending webinars, companies asked their employees to work from home, gyms offered online courses and museums opened virtual galleries. The world as we knew it is changing rapidly and experiencing a huge digital boom. Existing tools are suddenly used exponentially, and new ways of virtual communication emerge, e.g. many governments are currently using digital apps to track Covid-19 cases and thus try to control the pandemic.

This rapid rise of digital tools has made us vulnerable to the risk of violating the right to privacy.  Recently, the EU's introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 led to a growing awareness of the issue among the general public. The question remains: how we can most effectively ensure the protection of our data, especially in the current situation?

In this webinar we will therefore discuss risks and challenges, as well as solutions and best practices that can be taken up by the private sector to ensure that the privacy of employees and within the supply chain is protected.
