Mexico City, Mexico
The Alliance for Integrity took part in the Business Anti-Corruption Forum in Mexico City. The two-day conference was organised by COPARMEX (Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana), and addressed the issue of setting up international corruption prevention systems. The event offered an opportunity for exchanging best practices implemented by different relevant stakeholders from the public and private sector, and civil society organisations.
The conference was attended by delegates from the public sector and from several local and international companies; as well as by delegates from different Mexican federal states and their corresponding staff members from local COPARMEX chapters. Also representatives from international organisations such as the OAE (Organization of American States), and civil society organisations, such as Transparency International, joined the event.
Noor Naqschbandi, Director of the Alliance for Integrity, participated in one of the discussion panels emphasising the importance of engaging small and medium sized enterprises and providing them with useful tools for setting up in-house prevention corruption mechanisms. He also exhorted companies from the Latin American region to participate more actively in international bodies, such as the B20. The panel served as a platform for sharing experiences in the implementation of international cooperation projects. Representatives from Colombia, the UK, and the US joined the debate.
