On 26 January, the 6th Annual High-Level Anti-Corruption Conference for G20 Governments, Business and Civil Society – jointly organised by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – took place in Berlin. The G20 governments, representing almost 80% of the global GDP, three quarters of the global trade and two thirds of the global population, met for discussions with the global business community and civil society in order to further tackle corruption and promote business integrity.

The Alliance for Integrity is Concept Partner of the Business 20 (B20) Cross-Thematic Group “Responsible Business Conduct & Anti-Corruption” and actively supported the organisers of the High-Level Anti-Corruption Conference. The event focused on ways of implementing anti-corruption measures into practice. The Alliance for Integrity used this opportunity to bring in its expertise in strengthening the importance of Collective Action when tackling the root causes of corruption and creating enabling framework conditions for clean and inclusive growth.

Participants from the public sector, private sector and civil society in G20 countries and beyond came together to discuss implementation in the following thematic and sectorial panel discussions: “Implementing Integrity into Day-to-Day Business”; “Implementing Collective Action: Challenges and Opportunities”; “Encouraging Appropriate Business Practices in the Pharmaceutical Sector: What Role do Regulation and Self-Regulation play?“ and “Strengthening Good Governance / Anti-Corruption in International Sports Organisations“.

Noor Naqschbandi, the Director of the Alliance for Integrity, had the honour of wrapping up the conference by giving the closing remarks, emphasizing the need to move from aspiration to action and focus on implementation.

Regarding the collaboration with the OECD, the Alliance for Integrity will organise a panel discussion during the OECD Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum, which takes place on 30 and 31 March in Paris, France. Read more in German here.
