The Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Working Group convened another time in Bandung, West Java. The event was preceded by a presentation and user test of TheIntegrityApp. The members of the Working Group were exposed to TheIntegrityApp as a digital solution to self-assess their internal compliance systems.
Following the user test, Sita Aripurnami, the representative to W20 Argentina from the Women Research Institute Indonesia, took the floor and shared her experiences regarding the W20 Engagement Group. She presented the process of Indonesia’s involvement in the W20 meeting in Argentina and explained how the group has formulated recommendations and how these have been handed over to the Argentinian President Macri at the G20 meeting. Ms. Aripurnami encouraged the women entrepreneurs to support the implementation of the recommendations as well. After Ms. Aripurnami’s presentation, Roto Priyono, Senior Advisor at GIZ’s “Assistance in Preventing and Combating Corruption” programme shared a short presentation regarding collective action in business integrity. He shared an experience of North Sumatera’s private and public sector that collaborate to conduct a dialogue forum. This forum was used by KPK to establish a regional advocacy committee. Mr. Roto highlighted the importance of collaboration of all involved stakeholders to mitigate the risk of corruption and to nurture integrity among others. In addition to Mr. Roto’s presentation, Bapak Sutan Maizon Rusdi updated the members about the Regional Advocacy Committee West Java and encouraged the members to actively involved in the Committee’s Anti-Corruption Working Group.
After the break, the Working Group was joined by the Alliance for Integrity’s Coordinator for Latin America, Carolina Echevarria. The women in the Working Group took the opportunity to congratulate her for her shortlisting at the Women Compliance Award. This was followed by a presentation on the experience of the female working group and their work on the anti-corruption law in Argentina. She called the Working Group members in Indonesia to also involve in similar processes on the ground. After the discussion, both parties agreed to discuss the topic of collective action deeper in their next meeting.
