Seminar on “Pathways to Business Integrity”

The Seminar aimed at facilitating peer-to-peer exchange among businesses in Pune and mobilising collective action in preventing and fighting corruption. It started with an inaugural address by Mr. Ramani Iyer, Vice-Chair Advisory Group India, Alliance for Integrity. This address was followed by a presentation on the role of the global initiative Alliance for Integrity by the Network Manager India, Ms. Nandini Sharma. Following which, Dr. Rashmi Hebalkar, the former Chairman of Business Ethics Foundation presented the Business Ethics Foundation. Business Ethics foundation is also a co-organiser of this seminar.

Mr. Shishir Joshipura, Managing Director, SKF India Limited and Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries Pune Zonal Office delivered the key note address emphasising the importance for businesses to say “NO” to corruption. Mr. Joshipura launched the Indian version of the No eXcuses! Guidebook, one of the key publications of the Alliance for Integrity and urged businesses to adopt the pocket guide which has been developed as guidance tool to tackle business related ethical dilemmas and to spur conversations on the topic. Mr. Sushanta Sen, Principal Advisor, Confederation also graced the event and shared his perspective on the topic of business responsibility and integrity.

An overview session on the Alliance for Integrity training programme “Vyapar Se Vyapar Ko” was undertaken by Dr. Rajesh Chitre, Chief Compliance Officer, Merck Limited and Advisory Group member of the Alliance for Integrity.

“Vyapar Se Vyapar Ko” training programme is developed with the objective of empowering businesses to counter corrupt practices. In his address Mr. Vivek Sawant, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited presented novel insights on the issue. Mr. Ashish Kapoor, Director HR-India from Eaton Corporation, Mr. Ramchandra Rane, Head Business Excellence, Mahindra Sanyo and Mr. Nitin Gawhane from ‎ThyssenKrupp Industries shared good practices in their presentations.

In the wrap-up session, Dr. Ganeshan, Director, Allana Institute of Management summarized the key points of the seminar and moderated the interaction session. Some of the participating companies included Mahindra Sanyo Special Steel Private Limited, Man Trucks India Private Limited, Kirloskar Brothers Limited, Mubea Automotive Components India Private Limited, Ascent Intellimation Private Limited and the Indo German Chamber of Commerce.
