On 10 October 2017 the Alliance for Integrity participated in the Business Integrity Forum 2017 in the city of Surabaya - one of Indonesia’s major business capitals. The event “Strengthening Local Economy through Business Integrity Practices” was organised by Indonesia Business Links. The forum aimed to foster constructive dialogue between the private and the public sector by sharing experiences around the topic on the importance of doing business with integrity. Heru Prasetyo Boardmember at Indonesia Business Links delivered a keynote speech in which he briefed the audience on the issuance of the Supreme Court Regulation 13/2016 on Procedures for the Handling of Corporate Crime Cases and its consequences towards the private sector.
In the following sessions, representatives of the local licensing authority, Pelayanan Terpadu Satu Pintu (PTSP) Surabaya, shared their efforts to uphold transparency and integrity in the permit and licensing process followed by compliance experiences presented by local and international companies.
The Alliance for Integrity used the opportunity to introduce the initiative and presented its ”Dari Usaha Ke Usaha (DUKU)” compliance training programme. Barliana Amin, the Network Manager Indonesia shared practical knowledge on different types of corruption and measures how to counter corruption within the organization. Especially the importance of strengthening compliance and integrity to gain competitive advantage in today’s business environment was emphasised. Furthermore, the local business community introduced to the Indonesian version of the “No eXcuses” Guide.
