Accra, Ghana
The Working Group on Awareness Creation in Ghana held its first meeting in Accra. It aims at developing instruments for creating awareness about business integrity, such as best-practice publications and corruption-prevention tools in order to get the interest and support of all relevant stakeholders and thus foster or mainstream a culture of ethical business. The Working Group also serves as a platform for supporters of the Alliance for Integrity to meet, work and commend concrete outcomes to aid the implementation of the activities of the initiative. It is made up of representatives of companies, civil society and public sector organisations.
The first meeting focused on the adaptation of “No eXcuses”, a pocket guide for business practitioners and employees, to the Ghanaian context. Participants also discussed the concept of a compliance guidebook, which will be written by renowned compliance practitioners of Ghana’s private sector, civil society, public sector and academia, and made input on additional topics. The group brainstormed additional topics and issues that might be of interest to businesses in Ghana.
The Working Group will be engaged in various activities connected to the two aforementioned publications and convene again in July to discuss next steps.
