The Alliance for Integrity’s Global Steering Committee Convened for the Third Time

The 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of the Alliance for Integrity took place in the GIZ House in Berlin. The Steering Committee – currently consisting of 14 members – meets twice a year to provide thought leadership and guidance for the Alliance for Integrity’s operations. The Steering Committee is made up of representatives from the private sector, the public sector, the civil society as well as representatives of international organisations and follows the goal of promoting responsible and clean business practices globally.

The meeting was moderated by Noor Naqschbandi, the Director of the Alliance for Integrity.
The Chairs of the Advisory Groups represent the four partner countries Brazil, India, Indonesia and Ghana in the Steering Committee. This year, the Chair of the Advisory Group in Ghana, Linda Ofori-Kwafo, from the Ghana Integrity Initiative and the Vice Chair of the Advisory Group in India, Ramini Iyer, from Every Drop Counts Foundation, had travelled from their respective countries in order to participate in this important meeting in person.

Together with representatives from the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Global Compact Network, Merck KGaA, SAP SE, Transparency International Deutschland e.V., the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) they reviewed the year 2016 and discussed the initiative’s plans for 2017. “Highlights”, such as the Global Conference of the Alliance for Integrity, the concept partnership for the B20 Cross Thematic Group on Responsible Business Conduct and Anti-Corruption, and impact stories from the respective partner countries demonstrated the scope of operation, which has already been reached by the Alliance for Integrity in fostering business integrity globally. The Chairs of the Advisory Groups in Brazil, Reynaldo Goto from Siemens Brazil, and Indonesia, Jeffrey Cheung, from PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia, joined the meeting via conference call. The representatives also gave guidance to the Alliance for Integrity concerning the planning process for the year 2017 and confirmed that the team of the initiative should keep up and proceed with the good and important work during the next year.
