On 12 June, the Alliance for Integrity in cooperation with the Brazilian Ministry of Transparency, Supervision and Control (CGU) launched TheIntegrityApp for the public sector in Brazil in front of 80 representatives from governmental institution and organisations.

The app was developed by the Alliance for Integrity in 2017 in order to encourage the strengthening of integrity and compliance within companies. It now has been adapted for public institutions. Therefore, the Brazilian Ministry for Transparency and Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) cooperated with the Alliance for Integrity.

Wagner Rosário, Minister Ministry for Transparency and Comptroller General of the Union (CGU), opened the event and highlighted opportunities TheIntegrityApp offers for the public sector, as it provides handy solutions to improve transparency in the public sector. Dr. Georg Witschel, German Ambassador in Brazil, focused on the advantages that the close cooperation between Brazil and Germany has and its importance. Susanne Friedrich, the new Director of the Alliance for Integrity, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to introduce the adapted version of TheIntegrityAppand thanked CGU for the fruitful cooperation. Lastly, Renato Capanema, Director for Integrity Promotion and International Cooperation at CGU highlighted the important step taken to strengthen public institutions in Brazil considering the rising challenges in digital processes that they are facing.

The event also provided an opportunity to sensitise for integrity, the personal responsibility of every actor in the transformation process and the influence of institutions on it. During her speech, Fernanda Cabral from Imagina Coletivo stated that anti-corruption requires the dedication of all actors in the business world as much as in the public sector.

Finally, Amanda Rocha, Network Manager Brazil at the Alliance for Integrity presented and launched TheIntegrityApp for the public sector. TheIntegrityApp is a digital solution for the self-assessment of integrity programmes. After answering a set of questions, the user receives a score from 0 to 100 which indicates the company’s or institution’s level of adherence to integrity standards. It does not provide a certification but only a self-assessment.

After this assessment, the user receives free access to content that allows him or her to implement or improve the integrity programme.
Throughout the event, all participants showed great interest in the new tool and commented on its importance to improve corruption prevention programmes. Especially, the self-assessment option was recorgnised as a great advantage, as it allows a pinpointed analysis.
