Third Integrity Week Indonesia – "Benefits from Integrity - Businesses Take Action"

From 17 to 20 April 2018, the Alliance for Integrity organised the Third Integrity Week in Jakarta, Indonesia. This year’s Integrity Week was held under the theme "Benefits from Integrity – Businesses Take Action". The events brought together business leaders and other relevant stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, public sector, government and academia to develop practical solutions and share knowledge and good practice on compliance and business integrity. Three major events were organised throughout the week. The Business Integrity Forum with a high-level panel discussion on “Recent Regulatory Developments and anti-corruption measures for the private sector in Indonesia” on 17 April 2018. A Dari Usaha Ke Usaha (DUKU) Compliance Training Program with an introductory panel discussion regarding “The Importance of Integrity in the health care sector” in Indonesia on 19 April, and a Peer–to- Peer Exchange on 20 April 2018.

On 17 April 2018, The Business Integrity Forum started the week, in which Alliance for Integrity organized in cooperation with Indonesia Chamber of Commerce (KADIN Indonesia). The event was attended by more than 150 participants. Miranda Andamsari, Merck Compliance Officer and Alliance for Integrity’s Advisory Group Chairwoman Indonesia and Anindya Bakrie, Vice Chair of KADIN Indonesia welcomed the participants. In their speeches they encouraged the business sector to improve their integrity practice in their daily activities.

Ensuing the speeches, a high-level panel discussion on “Recent Regulatory Developments and anti-corruption measures for the private sector in Indonesia” took place. Ariz Arham from Komisi Pemberantasa Korupsi (KPK), Meuthia Ghanie-Rochman from Transparency International Indonesia, Rahmat Junaedi from KADIN Indonesia, Bima Priya Santosa from Paramadina University, and Y.W. Junardy from Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN) presented regulatory developments on corporate liability in Indonesia which have direct impact to the private sector. The panel discussed, the Supreme Court Regulation No. 13/2016 on Procedures for the Settlement of Criminal Acts committed by corporations, the recently announced Presidential Decree No. 13/2018 on Beneficial Ownership, among others. Furthermore, the speakers also discussed the benefits of integrity in today’s business environment. The session was moderated by Metta Dharmasaputra, CEO of katadata.com and writer of “Key Witness’, the investigation of Indonesia’s biggest corruption case in the private sector. Following the high-level panel discussion, Claudia Lorek de Araujo, Regional Manager Latin America and Asia at the Alliance for Integrity launched TheIntegrityApp.

After the break, an afternoon discussion session on Political Donations from the private sector was conducted. During this session the regulation and requirements related to political donation by corporations were presented.

The session was moderated by Ade Irawan from Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW). Panelists included Collie F. Brown, Country Manager & Liaison to ASEAN, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Indonesia, and Wawan Wardiana Head of Research and Development Division KPK. Before the closing informative session on compliance and integrity digital and platform tools, SOLUSI and Sintesis were presented by Indonesia Business Links and Transparency International respectively. The event was closed by Claudia Lorek de Araujo. She conveyed and thanked the support of all parties involved in the Integrity Forum and supported all parties concerned to continue to foster integrity in order to create a better economic environment.

The next day, an Advisory Group meeting was held to discuss a sustainable strategy of Alliance for Integrity in Indonesia. The meeting was attended by Miranda Andamsari, Chair of the Advisory Group, Collie F. Brown of UNODC, Jefferey Cheung, former Chair of Advisory Group Indonesia, Bima Priya Santosa from Paramadina University, and Satrio Anindito from the Indonesian Global Compact Network.

On 19 April, a DUKU training session organised by the Alliance for Integrity in cooperation with the Gabungan Perusahaan Alat Kesehatan dan Laboratorium (GAKESLAB) took place. This training included a panel discussion on “The Importance of Transparency in the Healthcare Sector in Indonesia’. The panel was joined by Roro Wide Sulistyowati KPK, Drs. H. Sugihadi HW.MM Chairman GAKESLAB, Miranda Andamsari, and Rizky Thamia from Indonesia Business Links. After the break, the DUKU Compliance Training was conducted and facilitated by Miranda Andamsari, Ranny Fathia from PT Siemens Indonesia, and Yanto Sidik from Indonesia Business Links. The trainers shared their knowledge and experience regarding compliance and anti-corruption with the 30 participants consisting of entrepreneurs and representative of companies.

On the following day, a peer-to-peer discussion was held. This event marked the closing of the third Integrity Week of the Alliance for Integrity in Indonesia. The event gathered 25 entrepreneurs, representatives of SMEs and larger companies who discussed the topic of compliance on vendor evaluation. Miranda Andamsari introduced the vendor registration procedure and compliance evaluation mechanism to the audiences. Besides SMEs, the procurement team from GIZ in Indonesia, representatives of procurement and compliance teams from PT. Asuransi Allianz, representatives of procurement and compliance team from PT. Siemens and Manager Procurement from PT. Martina Berto also joined the discussion and shared their knowledge.
