The Hague, Netherlands
The Alliance for Integrity has participated in the ‘Extractive resources for prosperity conference – Responsible sourcing from fragile areas’ in The Hague, Netherlands on 23 October.
Our Regional Manager for Latin America & Asia, Claudia Lorek, and Coordinator for Asia, Florian Lair gave two workshops on Promoting Business Integrity. In the former workshop, different types of corporate corruption and practical solutions to counter these were illustrated and discussed with participants, who were encouraged to reflect about real-life corruption cases. The second workshop gave practical advice to debunk classic justifications for corrupt acts by presenting the Alliance for Integrity’s No Excuses Guide to counter the 10 most common excuses for corrupt behaviour.
The conference was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and aimed to help companies operating in extractive supply chains with responsible business conduct. Given that conflict and corruption are major impediments to sustainable development in resource-abundant countries, the conference focused on how the private sector can make key contributions to peace and stability by carrying out responsible policies. Please find more information about the conference here.
