Alliance for Integrity’s Advisory Group Indonesia convened to discuss the way forward 2020

The Advisory Group (AG) Indonesia came together on 7 November 2019, in the Merck Indonesia office to plan its activities for 2020. During her welcome remarked, Susanne Friedrich Director of Alliance for Integrity, thanked Merck for hosting the meeting. Following an introduction round, an update of activities of Alliance for Integrity in Asia was presented. Inspired by the success of the Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Working Group West Java and the recently held Integrity Coffee in Mexico, Seema Choudhary, Network Manager India, informed that in 2020 an Integrity Chai will be organised in India. With this format the Alliance for Integrity aims to provide a platform especially for female professionals to exchange their experience regarding corruption in business and together find solutions to handle these challenging situations. It is planned to later on establish an exchange between the different groups to foster interregional peer-to-peer learning.

Afterwards, Susanne updated the AG members about the progress in the development of the Vision 2025. Participants discussed important aspects to shape the future of the initiative, for example, funding mechanisms and governance structure.
Moreover, the AG members dedicated their time to the topic of Success Stories. Participants gathered ideas on how to incentive SMEs to engage in compliance, e.g. through the participation in DUKU training. Besides the current network, the AG members identified further strategic partners for engaging with the Alliance for Integrity. Additionally, the AG members discussed planned activities for 2020 of Alliance for Integrity in Indonesia.
Finally, Jeffrey Cheung, Chair of the AG, closed the meeting and announced that elections for the position of Chair and Vice-Chair will be held in the beginning of 2020.
The meeting was attended by Allianz Life Insurance, Indonesia Business Links, Indonesia Global Compact Network, Indonesia – Hong Kong Business Association, Paramadina University, UNODC, and Merck Indonesia.
