Special Event at the Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption

Digitalisation as a game changer to strengthen business integrity in SMEs

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a major role in most economies, particularly in developing and emerging markets. Mitigating corruption risks in businesses is a difficult task and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. This is especially true for SMEs that face challenges such as limited personnel and financial resources for compliance. Digitalisation comes in as a game changer, providing new opportunities for both large companies to strengthen compliance across supply chains and for SMEs to tap into existing resources and implement internal anti-corruption measures. In this special event, experts and practitioners will provide insights into how digital tools can support the effective implementation of integrity in companies and share good practice examples from different regions.

The panel will discuss the following key questions:

  • What challenges do SMEs face and can technology provide a solution?
  • How can digital tools help to strengthen compliance across supply chains?
  • What can the public sector learn from the private sector?
  • How can we use data to track the impact of anti-corruption measures?
