In the framework of the International Anti-Corruption Day on 09 December 2021, the Alliance for Integrity, Transparency International Germany, the German Institute for Compliance (DICO) and the Global Compact Network Germany (GCN Germany), invite you to an online event on the impact of the Human Rights Due Diligence Act on the compliance function and responsilibities.
At this event, current issues regarding the key points of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act will be presented followed by a panel of speakers discussing how the new legislation impacts the role of the compliance function with a focus on the international supply chains. The perspective of German companies’ business partners abroad and the resulting changes in business relationships will also be presented.
The Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz, LKSG) will come into full effect from 01 January 2023. It is intended to improve the international human rights situation by imposing requirements on the responsible management of certain companies’ supply chains. Corruption is often linked to or driving non-compliance with human rights and environmental standards committed by suppliers and business partners alongside the companies' supply chain. For international companies, it is a key sustainability risk and requires linkages between anti-corruption and human rights protection efforts . Approaches to corruption prevention will therefore play an important role in the context of the LKSG.
The goal of the event is to examine the new role of compliance officers. Knowledge and experiences on linking approaches to anticorruption and the new corporate due diligence requirements will be shared from the perspective of compliance officers and experts and will be discussed with the audience. From these insights, recommendations will be derived for companies interested in further developing the role of compliance officers.
